This crumb recipe is super simple, only requires 2 ingredients and an air-fryer 👏🏽 If you don't have your hands on an air-fryer, this dish can be shallow fried instead, you'll just need to use more oil ☺️
We then served this crunchy calamari with orange and roast fennel salad using Just Flavour's Moroccan in the dressing to compliment the flavours 👌🏽
Air Fried Squid with Orange and Fennel Salad
Salad / Lunch
Bursting with fresh sweet orange segments, roasted fennel and peppery rocket, topped with crunchy, spiced squid makes for a lip smacking meal!
Pre-heat oven to 200°c. Prepare the fennel bulb by trimming the stalks, removing the core and thinly slice. Place in a baking dish, drizzle with oil, salt and pepper. Roast for 10 minutes.
Remove the skin and white pith of the oranges. Over a bowl, carefully remove segments with a sharp knife. Squeeze excess juice after segmenting the orange and pour into a jar for the dressing.
Add oil, Just Flavour Moroccan and seeded mustard to the dressing, shake well, set aside.
Mix together polenta and Just Flavour 'Everything' in a bowl with salt and pepper, set aside.
Cut through one side of the squid tube and lay flat. Gently score the tubes in a diamond pattern. Prevent cutting all the way through. Then slice squid into 2 cm strips and crumb, set aside.
Spray the basket of the air fryer with oil. Place squid in the basket and spray again with oil. Cook on 200°c for 3 minutes.
Meanwhile, mix salad ingredients together and serve between 2 bowls. Top with golden squid and enjoy!

✨ If you have the time, soak squid strips in whole milk overnight to help tenderise
